Why Do Minorities Vote Republican?
Since high school, I’ve always wondered why my parents were pro republican. Just a couple years ago, I went home to see Reagan magnets on their refrigerator. Upon looking at it, I shuddered and asked why they liked Reagan. The response? The response was unclear to me and to this day, I still don’t understand why they are still pro republican.
Then I always wondered why anyone who is a minority is pro republican. My thoughts were that these people are against you, why would you support them? But what ev’s right? That’s just my opinion.
But here we go….. we have a republican senator that is running for president who openly uses the term “gook” and does not apologize for using the term. McCain claims that it is towards his captors in Vietnam when he was a POW and continues to say that he hates gooks. This racial slur refers to all Asians and Pacific Islanders, and I cannot believe he thinks that this is an okay term to use. Two words… Foreign Policy. And one more word… Diplomacy. This? This guy is running for president? The leader of the free world? Fuck that shit!!! yeah, let me repeat that, FUCK that SHIT!
So, if anyone of a different race does something bad to me, then I can start using racial slurs? Is that it? Well then….. Senator McCain, why don’t you take your honkey ass and your polar bear hatin’ retard and suck it.
I’m so disgusted right now.

Just spoke to the folks and guess what? They are now pro Obama. Huh, I guess they didn’t like the fact the McCain hates gooks. Go figure.

Little Treasures
Amidst all the crap going on, (I really don’t think I need to list the crap because I’m sure we’ve all smelled the crap), a little treasure like this pops up.
Like this one…..
Mozart Fragment Found
I am very interested in hearing the many orchestrations (no doubt) that will be put together from this. How many people will think they can handle the genius of Mozart? hehehe… This will either be fun and exciting, or as I always say, a circus-freak-show. Maybe both? eek, even more fun! :p

The Good Part of Kansas / Tweedledee and Tweedledum(b) - 2 posts
THE GOOD PART OF KANSAS
Finally uploaded some of the pics. Although we didn’t get to see much, here are some of the highlights of Kansas!

a “Korean” restaurant in Newton, KS. GOOD kimchee (can you believe?), and the owner was incredibly nice and generous! She gave us the secret stash of different kinds of kimchee from the back.

yumm… corn dogs and funnel cakes.

pig races. fo’ sho’!

chickens, roosters, turkeys. Don’t ask me why I’m so fascinated by these birds.

the beautiful bride and her awesome dad. This was definitely a highlight.

the beautiful ceremony in a barn that was shipped over from Pennsylvania. Bride and groom were dashing, and I believe the bridesmaids were pretty hot as well

the music was great! Matron of Honor singing for the lovely couple.

and of course, being with B. Always a highlight. I know, I know, too cheesy for Nancy, but he really was a trooper throughout the whole trip.
POST NUMBER TWO
TWEEDLEDEE and TWEEDLEDUM(b)
I’m gonna have to make a confession. Long ago, I thought that for a Republican, McCain wasn’t that bad. But these last few months, especially after choosing Palin as a running mate, have proved to me that he really is that bad.
Tweedledee: Palin
Tweedledumb: Carly Fiorina
Yes folks, Carly seems to amuse me like a circus freak-show clown. I saw this interview where Fiorina accuses Tina Fey as being sexist. Interview below:
“INTERVIEWER: You are the first person from the McCain campaign I can ask, what did you think of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin?
FIORINA: Well, I think that she looked a bit like her. I think that, of course, the portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin, and so in that sense, they were defining Hillary Clinton as very substantive, and Sarah Palin as totally superficial. I think that continues the line of argument that is disrespectful in the extreme, and yes, I would say, sexist in the sense that just because Sarah Palin has different views than Hillary Clinton does not mean that she lacks substance. She has a lot of substance.”
Last I heard, Hillary Clinton is a part of the female gender. Comparing Palin to another woman… sexist? or sexy? ha, now I’m being sexist.
But here’s the kicker… bring in the clowns, elephants and acrobats! Who needs enemies when you have friends like her, McCain? Bad news is, they’re throwing her off for a while.
Aw man, but I just made a fresh batch of popcorn.

Back from Oz
Came back from Kansas on Sunday. Kansas…. hmmmm….. well, let’s just write a list here:
- Went to Kansas City for a day and loved it. Ate the most amazing BBQ ever at Oklahoma Joe’s.
- Drove to Newton, Kansas and checked in at the Days Inn… not so great. Our clothes smell like cigarette smoke now.
- Went to the Kansas State Fair and saw pig races, cows, goats, you name it, and ate corn dogs and funnel cakes.
- It rained A LOT
- Went to WalMart and got rain boots.
- Then it miraculously got sunny on the day of the wedding.
- Wedding was beautiful.
- Love, love, love the song, “One Voice” from the Wailin’ Jenny’s that was sung by a family at the wedding.
- Got back on the plane and came back.
The other things that happened were kind of small. Like, being asked if we were all from China, asking us if we were sisters of another Asian girl with the hand motion of pulling of the eyes to indicate that we have slits for eyes. I suppose small towns are great for some people, but for me, I like being in a place where I don’t always stand out because I have straight, black, hair. If it weren’t for that, I thought it was quite charming and the people were very friendly. There were huge fields of sunflowers that I thought were amazing. Wish we could’ve seen more of Newton, but the rain kept us away… boo.

Oz
I’m off to Kansas with my blue bridesmaid dress and red shoes. Going to C+C’s wedding in Newton, Kansas, and it literally looks like it’s in the middle of the country on the map. Lookin’ forward to the Kansas City State Fair and eating corn dogs and funnel cakes. Little Nigel is already at his aunt and uncle’s house, and we already miss him. We’re suckers.

The Double Standard
After I changed the focus from performance to composition, I realized that the fine lines between men and women in this profession were not fine at all. They were more like dark, Sharpie lines. So needless to say, it sucks. I hate having to think that as women, we’ll always have to fight for equal rights. But I also believe in credibility, especially if it has to do with leading the country. So, this whole McCain/Palin thing intrigues me. I find it interesting that the Republicans are lashing out at people who criticizes Palin’s lack of experience by saying it’s sexist. Well, let’s see here…..
If Palin was a man with the credentials she has, would people think he was fit for the job? or would they laugh?
If he wasn’t fit for the job, then why are we letting Palin get away with it?
And if people are being sexist, would they have continued to talk about experience and credentials when it comes to a woman like Kay Hutchinson? (A candidate that McCain did not pick? Who is also a woman? Who has more experience than Palin?) Which leads me to believe that this is a crazy gimmick.
Maybe the Republicans are letting Palin slide because she’s a woman. How belittling. I wonder if Americans realize this? I hope that they don’t buy into this Bush puppet who reads speeches from his writers. Ohhh, I get it. They don’t want a strong woman who can stand on her own, they need a puppet.

Laborious Day Weekend
B and I have been a bit busy this past month either entertaining, hosting, or going out. So instead of going out again for the 3-day holiday weekend, we decided to stay in and take care of our home. For my standards (which I will admit are pretty high), our house needed major cleaning. That was on Saturday after I taught lessons in the morning. Then on Sunday, we bravely made it over to Ikea to buy a shelving system for our garage. Our garage has never been clean since we moved in. It has always been in disarray because we had no shelves. The overhaul took all of Sunday and half of Monday. As much work as it took, we are very happy with the outcome…. we’re getting old, I know.
I created a listening mix for my students. It contains music from each era and a description of each piece for the students to listen for. I also made an “era” packet that describes each period and major composers for that era. I HOPE that they study the material so that it will help them on their exams.
The GRE is next month and I decided to take it a couple days ago. It’s cram time and I don’t want to spend $1000 for a class, so we’ll just see how this one goes… hehe. It’s been 16 years since I took geometry. 16 years! B and I were feverishly calculating our space in our garage by using geometry in Ikea. We were pretty impressed by our skills, but definitely rusty… ruuusty.
Now for that damn personal statement.
